The Security Studies Group has been preparing a white paper on options for the United States in Syria. A lot hangs on this decision, as a number of international actors have turned Syria again into a pivotal crossroads.

This paper is the second of a two-part series constructed for the administration, offered here to the public in a redacted format, suggests options for policymakers. Redacted options include uses of American power that would be made more difficult by public discussion of them.

Dr. Patty advised US Army units in Iraq on information operations as part of more than a decade's involvements in America's wars. His work has received formal commendations from the 30th Heavy Brigade, the 2nd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, the 3rd Infantry Division and the 1st Cavalry Division. Dr. Patty holds his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Georgia, as well as a Master's in history from Armstrong in Savannah.
